Tips for a Great Boot Camp

Here are a few suggestions to make your Boot Camp experience the best possible.

  1. Drink at least 8 to 10 (8 oz) glasses of water daily.
  2. Get to bed early. Rest is important!
  3. For the 5:30 a.m. classes, it’s suggested that you wake around 4:30 a.m. and have a small snack, such as 1/4 cup oatmeal or or 1 slice dry whole wheat toast. 1/2 Kashi bar is a great alternative if you need the convenience. AVOID MILK and milk products as they may upset your stomach! You’ll find what works best for you.
  4. Arrive 10 minutes early: we start camp promptly and roll is called at the beginning of class! Late arrivers will be asked to perform 10 push-ups.
  5. Please bring a set of hand weights (5-8 lbs), an exercise mat or beach towel and water to every boot camp session.
  6. Running shoes-get a good pair!! Bulldog Sporting Goods offers a 15%  discount for all WoW! participants, so be sure to mention that when you’re checking out.).  Stacey at the New Balance Store, across from Lowes on Epps Bridge, will also offer a 15% discount.  She has a wonderful machine that will test your feet to ensure the perfect fit.  My favorite New Balance shoe for WoW!  is the 1061!!  Runners Fit at intersection of Thompson Mill Rd and Hwy 211 in Braselton (next to Barberitos) offers a 15% discount to WoW! Boot Camp Participants-ask for Ryan.
  7. No profanity, please – if you can help it!
  8. RAIN POLICY: Classes are never cancelled due to inclement weather. Each boot camp location has an alternate indoor workout facility available for our use. In warmer weather, we workout in drizzle, but never in pouring rain or lightning. Please watch your email for updates about your class location if the weather is questionable.
  9. Please bring your Lifestyle Fitness journal to class on the first and last Fridays of Boot Camp. You’ll want to record your assessment info here.
  10. Speaking of the journal: We HIGHLY recommend that you keep a log of all your meals and snacks. Studies show that those that record what they eat and track calories or Weight Watchers points have more success with weight loss. Additionally, we’re such a believer in the process, we offer a small PRIZE to those that keep track EVERY day. Just bring it to your Post-Assessment all filled out!
  11. HAVE FUN!
